CAMAS, Wash. – Four families evacuated their homes in Camas after a sinkhole opened up near their fourplex earlier this week.
The sinkhole appeared at 719 SE Russell St. on Monday. A man was sweeping outside the building when he said the ground gave out.

Engineers determined the sinkhole was moving away from the building, which meant the families could return to their homes Wednesday afternoon.
It’s unclear what caused the sinkhole.
The Red Cross was helping the 18 people who had to leave their homes.
