PORTLAND, Ore. — Riverdale School District in Southwest Portland closed its two schools, a high school and k-8 school on Tuesday following reports of a bomb threat.
The district serves nearly 600 students from the around the Southwest Portland, Lake Oswego and Dunthorpe area.
Around 5 a.m., the district received a bomb threat via email that included a list of school from around the country all named "Riverdale," the school district said in a statement.
"In response, we immediately activated our safety protocols, contacted the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Portland Police Department, and took precautionary steps to secure our buildings, which included closing our schools for the day," Riverdale School District stated.
According to the district's website, both buildings have been inspected and confirmed to be secure. Schools are expected to reopen Wednesday.
