BEAVERTON, Ore. — On Tuesday, REI announced an opening date this spring for a new store in Beaverton, set to be the largest REI store in Oregon.
The Beaverton store is slated to have its grand opening on April 19, and will be located at Walker Center, at 2780 Southwest Cedar Hills Boulevard. It will be inside a building that used to house a Bed Bath & Beyond.
The store will be 39,512 square feet and feature a full-service bike shop and ski and snowboard shop.
“Our team of 90 inspired guides look forward to sharing our beautiful new store with REI members and the outdoor community,” said REI Beaverton store manager Dacia Stockton. “Our location is full service in every way — from the largest gear and apparel assortments sold by REI in the state to the region’s top bike and snow shop mechanics to a knowledgeable sales team."
This comes after the REI store in Portland's Pearl District closed back in February. In April 2023, the outdoor retailer announced the closure citing concerns over safety and an increase in crime over the past few years.
The outdoor retailer will also be hosting a three-day celebration from April 19-21 open to the community, featuring outdoor brands such as Columbia, Arc'teryx and Danner.
REI has nine stores in Oregon, including the new Beaverton location opening up. The other eight are in Clackamas, Hillsboro, Tualatin, Salem-Keizer, Bend, Eugene and Medford. A used gear and apparel store called REI Re/Supply in Clackamas opened in fall 2023.
