PORTLAND, Ore. — A climate change protest outside City Hall blocked a few streets in downtown Portland Friday afternoon.
The protest blocked Southwest 4th Avenue in front of City Hall for several hours but police said the traffic impact was minimal.
City Hall was placed on lockdown during the demonstration. There were no reports of violence, police said.
Protesters began demonstrating at nearby Terry Schrunk Plaza at noon before going onto the street. At least 100 people were at the rally earlier in the afternoon but numbers declined as the day went on.
Although some protesters said they would stay until they got arrested, they had dispersed by 5:30 p.m.
