PORTLAND, Ore. — One of the biggest festivities in Oregon: Portland Pride is set to kick off July 20 at 12 p.m. It's Pride Northwest's 30th year hosting Portland's Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade.

To avoid overlapping with other significant cultural events in the Rose City, Pride Northwest moved Portland's celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ+) communities to July last year.

For a long time, the weekend of choice for Portland's LGBTQ+ Pride Month celebration would almost always overlap with Juneteenth and the Delta Park Powwow

"Although we work on the backend to build relationships and support diverse identities within the LGBTQIA2S+ community, at the end of the day, none of us really have the opportunity to support each other's celebrations in truly meaningful ways," said a spokesperson for Pride Northwest last year.

And moving to another weekend in June wasn't an option, Pride Northwest said, with how event-heavy Portland is in the spring and summer.

This year's Portland Pride theme is Feast and Love in celebration of the festival's 30th year anniversary. On Sunday, Portland-native Jinkk Monsoon, who has won two RuPaul Drag Race Crowns, will be headlining the Waterfront Pride Festival stage.

While, Portland's big Pride celebration isn't till July, there are still several events in the city and surrounding areas hosting festivities in June, including parades in Beaverton, Hood River and Tigard.
