PORTLAND, Ore. — The suspect in a homicide that claimed the life of a man on a TriMet MAX platform in North Portland on June 27 turned himself in Monday night, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reported.

PPB said Moyasar Osman Mohamed-Ahmed, 29, turned himself in and is now lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center. He faces a second-degree murder charge in the shooting death of Sean K. Smeeden, 39, from Portland.

On Thursday, June 27 around 8:30 p.m., Portland police officers responding to the platform at North Interstate Avenue and North Prescott Street found Smeeden dead. The medical examiner determined he died of homicide by gunshot wound.

Detectives have not released any information about what led up to the shooting or if the two men knew each other.

Earlier in the day Monday, authorities released two photos of Mohamed-Ahmed and asked the public to help locate him.
