TIGARD, Ore. – Police are seeking the public's help identifying a man killed by a car on Highway 99W Saturday evening.

The collision occurred at around 7:40 p.m. at the corner of Highway 99W and SW Fischer Road, near the community of King City.

During the initial investigation, deputies learned that a pedestrian crossing Highway 99W was struck by a GMC pickup traveling northbound.

It was reported that a man ran across the highway while northbound traffic had a green light. One vehicle braked heavily and was able to avoid striking the man, but he was struck by the pickup in the next travel lane.

Bystanders performed CPR on the man, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man is described as having light-colored skin, about 30 years old, 5'6" tall, 150 pounds, with red hair and beard. He had no type of identification on him.

A LifeFlight helicopter responded to the scene to transport the victim to the hospital but left empty.

One vehicle was able to stop in time but a second hit the pedestrian.

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators. The investigation is in its initial stages, but impairment and speed are not believed to be contributing factors.

The northbound lanes of Highway 99W were closed for several hours while police investigated the accident. Southbound lanes were also closed while the helicopter landed.
