CLACKAMAS, Ore. — A person is dead after being hit by a train on Sunday evening, Clackamas Fire officials confirmed.
The crash happened near Southeast 84th Avenue and the I-205 multi-use path around 6:29 p.m. Amtrak says an individual trespassed onto the track when they were hit.
The person who died has not yet been identified. Investigators have not said how they got on the track. The area was largely inaccessible according to the KGW crew on scene.
There were no injuries reported among the 175 passengers and crew on board Train 507, which was traveling from Seattle to Eugene.
"Amtrak is working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident," a spokesperson told us.
Service resumed after a delay of two and a half hours.
