Patient missing from Portland VA hospital

Gerald Beatty, 74, is not a threat to the public but may be confused and endangering his own safety, according to a news release from the VA Portland Health Care System.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Authorities are looking for a patient who left the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Monday morning.

Gerald Beatty, 74, is not a threat to the public but may be confused and endangering his own safety, according to a news release from the VA Portland Health Care System.

Beatty was last seen around 8:15 a.m. at the medical center, where he boarded the No. 8 TriMet bus.

Beatty is 5-foot-7, 150 pounds with white hair and a slender build. He was wearing blue jeans, a cream-colored light jacket and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information about Beatty is asked to call the VA police at 503-808-1911.

Portland police are also helping search for Beatty.
