TUALATIN, Ore. — The Pacific Foods plant in Tualatin will shut down operations within the next two years, the Campbell Soup Company announced. As a result, a total of 330 employees will be laid off.
Campbell's said the closure will happen in phases, with the first one coming in August 2024 and impacting 120 of its employees. The company expects the facility to fully close the plant and end operations by July 2026.
"The aging facility and inefficient nature of the site's configuration can no longer support the increased consumer demand and continued growth of the business," Campbell's Soup Company said in a news release.
The plant off of Southwest Tualatin-Sherwood Road contains several 250,000 square-foot leased buildings. The company plans to move the plant's soup and broth production to more modern and effective plants within its network. It will also turn plant-based beverage production over to its co-manufacturing partners.
"To fuel growth and transform our manufacturing and distribution network, we must invest and further strengthen our supply chain,” said Dan Poland, Campbell’s chief supply chain officer, in a news release.
Pacific Foods produces organic soup, broth and plant-based beverages. Campbell's purchased Pacific Foods and acquired the Oregon plant in 2017. The company owns many other brands, including Kettle Brand, Milano, Pepperidge Farm and Prego.
