PORTLAND, Ore. -- One person was arrested Sunday during competing rallies in downtown Portland on Sunday afternoon.
Jay Byron Bishop was arrested for bringing a firearm to a federal park, police reported on Twitter.
He was accused of felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. Bishop was expected in court Monday afternoon.
An organized rally by right-wing group Patriot Prayer started at 2 p.m. in Terry Schrunk Plaza. Counter protesters were also present to protest the rally by Patriot Prayer.
There was some yelling and arguing between the two groups in the plaza, but the rallies were otherwise peaceful. At about 2:50 p.m., protesters and counter protesters began marching through downtown Portland before returning to the plaza at about 3:30 p.m.

Portland police said on Twitter that they would wear protective gear, search bags and seize anything that could be used as weapons. Once the march began, they said they would observe the groups as they march.
