PORTLAND, Ore. — Seaside has reopened its beach, parks, waterways and trails.
The areas had been closed since March 23, when Gov. Kate Brown issued a statewide stay-home order in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The recreational areas reopened at 6 a.m. Monday. Seaside City Council unanimously approved reopening during a meeting last week. Playground equipment is not included in the reopening and will remain closed.
Even though reopening is an easing of COVID-19 restrictions, city officials still recommend people practice social distancing and wear face coverings.
Seaside City Council is planning to meet this week to discuss lodging restrictions that have been in place since Gov. Brown’s stay-home order was issued.
Clatsop County, where Seaside is located, moved into the first phase of the state's gradual reopening plan on May 15.
