GRESHAM -- Students and staff returned to class at Reynolds High School Thursday for the first time since the deadly shooting on June 10.
On this day, dozens of supporters stood outside the school as a show of support, offering words of encouragement as everyone walked onto the campus.
The outreach was spearheaded by a woman whose grandson was in class on the day of the shooting that killed his classmate and injured a PE teacher.
She and others have collected thousands of post-cards with messages of hope from all over the country that they gave to the school.
"I pray that it will be a part of their healing for them to be able to heal and know that they are loved unconditionally and that we're with them," said. "We're with them and that's why we're here today."
Freshmen filtered into the buildings Thursday and the upperclassmen will join them on Friday.
