PORTLAND, Ore. — A teenage girl who Portland police said wandered away from her home in Northeast Portland on Wednesday morning was found safe Friday morning, according to the girl's aunt and Portland police.
Police asked the public to help them find the missing teen after she left her home Wednesday morning. The girl's mother said she had dropped off one of her daughters at school and allowed the other to stay home. The mother then went to a store to pick up her daughter's favorite ice cream. When she returned home, her daughter was gone.
According to the girl's mother, she had wandered away from home in the past but would normally return within a few hours. The mother tried a friend's house where the girl often goes and when she wasn't there, she phoned her husband, who left work and searched for his daughter for several hours.
"I left work and started canvassing the whole area for several hours,” the father told KGW. "That's when I called the police to get a report going."
Police said the family and detectives were concerned about the girl's safety due to her age and medical issues.
