Man hospitalized after being stabbed, involved in head-on crash in Northeast Portland

Police said that the 56-year-old man had been stabbed and was swerving into the oncoming lanes of traffic on 102nd Avenue Friday evening.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man was hospitalized after crashing into a vehicle while driving with a stab wound on Friday evening, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB). 

Around 5:22 p.m., the 56-year-old man had been stabbed and was swerving into the oncoming lanes of traffic on 102nd Avenue in Northeast Portland, eventually crashing head-on into another vehicle, according to police. He had life-threatening injuries but was stabilized at the hospital, PPB said. 

His condition is unknown at this time, and police provided no details on what led up to the stabbing. 

The other driver, who has not been identified, was injured in the crash but was not hospitalized, police said. 

The case is being investigated, police said Saturday afternoon. Detectives are currently not searching for outstanding suspects. 

Northeast 102 Avenue between Sacramento and Thompson streets were closed during the investigation Friday evening.
