SEATTLE — Seattle is, most definitely, a soccer town.

Lumen Field was selected as one of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup venues, according to a Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) announcement Saturday. Seattle will host some matches of the 32-team global tournament between June 15-July 13, 2025.

Hosting the FIFA Club World Cup at Lumen Field is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our fans and our organization,” said Sounders FC Majority Owner Adrian Hanauer. “Never before have we faced the world’s top club sides in expanded competitive play, and the fact that the first edition of this new tournament is being played in our country and our city is historic.”

Twelve stadiums will be used for the tournament, FIFA said, including five of the 11 U.S. venues for the 2026 World Cup.

Venues to be used for the tournament, which spans the United States next summer, are Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta; MetLife Stadium in New Jersey; Hard Rock Stadium in Miami; Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia; Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte; TQL Stadium in Cincinnati; Geodis Park in Nashville; Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando; and Audi Field in Washington, D.C.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed the sites at the Global Citizen Festival, an anti-poverty group’s event in New York’s Central Park.

Sounders FC qualified for the tournament after becoming the first and currently only Major League Soccer team to capture a CONCACAF Champions Cup title in 2022, according to the Sounders.

As of this month, 30 teams have qualified for the Club World Cup. Remaining spots in the competition are reserved for the 2024 Copa Libertadores winner and the selected representative from the host country.

Ticket information can be found at SoundersFC.com/Tickets.

Seattle will also host six matches in the 2026 World Cup at the 69,000-seat capacity venue nestled in Seattle's SODO neighborhood for the expanded 48-team World Cup competition.
