Businesses check in after blast

Here’s how you can help the businesses and residents who live and work in the area.

The Red Cross opened a reception center at Beth Israel, at Northwest 19th Avenue and Flanders Street, but have since closed that center. Anyone who needs assistance with food or shelter can call 211.

Mayor Charlie Hales said people can donate money or goods by contacting the Mayor’s Office here.

“We’ve got people all around us who don’t have a place to live, whose apartment is blown to smithereens, or a place to work because their small business’ windows are blown out,” Hales said. “We’re going to need the community to come together and help these folks.”

The owner of Portland Bagelworks set up a GoFundMe to help rebuild his business.

Multnomah County Health opened its crisis line for anyone impacted by the fire.
