Hiker safe after straying from group near Oneonta Trail area in the Columbia River Gorge

The hiker was reported lost but found his way home after separating from his group, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

CASCADE LOCKS, Ore. — A hiker is safe after his phone died and he got separated from his group Saturday, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. 

The hiker was believed to be lost by a group of friends he was hiking with on the Oneonta Trail area in the Columbia River Gorge.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, alongside the Search and Rescue team, worked to locate and rescue the lost hiker. Later, the hiker reportedly contacted his group, informing them he had made it home safe and was no longer lost. 

There are no details about the identity of the missing hiker or about what led up to the hiker becoming lost.
