Spirit of Halloweentown is a month-long celebration in St. Helens

We all know Halloween is just one day, but for the town of Saint Helens, it’s a celebration that lasts the entire month of October.

ST. HELENS, Ore. — We all know Halloween is just one day, but for the town of Saint Helens, it’s a celebration that lasts the entire month of October.

All the festivities are not only to celebrate Halloween but also to commemorate a beloved Disney movie, 'Halloweentown'. Just outside of City Hall you’ll find a giant pumpkin, where the Big Square is decorated. It’s not just the square that’s filled with everything Halloween, most of the businesses have been decorated too.

The excitement for Halloween began years ago after a Disney Chanel Original movie titled “Halloweentown” was filmed there.

For some kids at heart, like Lauren Spore who was visiting from Dallas, Texas, it brings her back to when she was a kid.

“I’ve seen all of them, when I found out we could see the Big Square and the pumpkins I was like we have to stop,” says Spore.

The month long celebration started more than a decade ago, and at least 50,000 people will visit Saint Helens for “Halloweentown” this year.
