81-year-old man and his son hit, killed by car while walking in Clackamas County

Investigators are looking into whether impairment played a role in the crash.

BORING, Oregon — A father and son were hit and killed by a car while walking along a road over the weekend, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to Southeast Lusted Road near Dodge Park Boulevard. That's where they found the victims, 81-year old Larry Brenner and his son, 41-year-old Jonathan Brenner of Boring. Investigators said the driver remained at the scene. They're working to determine whether impairment was a factor in the crash.

A man who lives nearby said residents deal with a lot of speeders on this stretch of road.

"It's pretty dangerous, the ditches are deep. It's hard to get off the road, out of somebody's way if they're driving crazy," said John Ingram. "I just feel sad for the families."

Friends of the Brenner family started a GoFundMe. Jonathan Brenner leaves behind two kids. He lost his wife just four years ago, according to the fundraising site. With Jonathan Brenner’s father also gone, his mother is left to care for the kids. Donations will help cover bills and expenses they're facing.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in this case. Anyone who has information about the crash is asked to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's tip line by calling 503-723-4949 or by filling out an online form. Tipsters are asked to reference case no. 24-016601.
