PORTLAND, Ore. — Police have arrested a suspect in an April 1 shooting that left one person dead outside a strip club in Southeast Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood.
Damariea R. Harris, 31, was arrested Friday in Vancouver and booked in Clark County jail on outstanding warrants for second-degree murder with a firearm, second-degree attempted murder with a firearm, first-degree assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. His extradition to Multnomah County is processing, according to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau.
Earlier last week, police identified the person killed as Morieo Camel-Harris, 35. The Medical Examiner said Camel-Harris died from a gunshot wound.
Around 5:35 p.m., April 1, PPB responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of The Venue Gentlemen's Club, located at 9950 Southeast Stark Street.
When officers arrived, they found one person with life-threatening injuries and another person dead at the scene. The injured person was taken to the hospital by ambulance. No suspect or suspects were initially found, according to police.
PPB has not released further details on the circumstances of the shooting.
Detectives from the agency's homicide unit and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are in the early stages of the investigation, PPB said. The agency said that traffic in the area could be impacted for several hours as investigators continue their work.
