PORTLAND, Oregon — The father of a man killed in a downtown Portland hit-and-run crash is seeking justice for their son.
According to police, 34-year-old Brandon Coleman was killed Oct. 21 around 4:30 a.m. off Southwest Naito Parkway on the Morrison Street Bridge on-ramp. Investigators said the driver did not remain at the scene.
“We really appeal to someone out there who knows something to come forward,” said Brandon’s father, Ron Coleman. “You know someone whose car is damaged? You know something that's not right? Do the right thing.”
Coleman said Brandon loved and cared about everyone, enjoyed making people laugh and loved music. He also struggled with mental health. Coleman said recently, that struggle led Brandon to be homeless by choice.
“In this society, we can't judge someone, their mental health issues or whether they're housed or not,” said Coleman. “[Brandon] had people who loved him.”
Coleman hopes now someone will stand up for his son's memory; a life cut short by a person Coleman hopes will be brought to justice.
“[Brandon] didn't deserve to have his life ended in that fashion,” he said.
