JUNTURA, Ore. (AP) - A sheriff says a well-known Eastern Oregon rancher has died in a light plane crash north of the community of Juntura.
The Ontario Argus Observer reports that Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe said 51-year-old Michael Bentz of Juntura was flying the plane Thursday as he helped cowboys on the ground move cattle. The sheriff says the aircraft apparently came in contact with a power line and crashed.
Bentz was alone in the 1979 Bellanca aircraft.
The sheriff says several people performed CPR but Bentz died at the scene.
