Woman identified in fatal hit-and-run near Portland's Old Town neighborhood

PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman died after police officers found her injured and not breathing near Portland's Old Town neighborhood early Friday morning. The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team detectives are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run, as of Saturday.

Around 3:03 a.m., police officers found the woman on the ground near the intersection of Southwest 1st Avenue and Southwest Ankeny Street. The police officers provided CPR until paramedics arrived. The woman died at the scene.

On Monday, Portland police identified the woman killed as 41-year-old Bethany Johnson. Her family has been notified of her death. 

This is the 42nd traffic fatality in Portland this year, PPB said.
