A brush fire burning near Cline Falls State Park west of Redmond has burned about eight acres and forced evacuations for residents living in the area.
The fire started Saturday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m.. It is located below Eagle Crest on the west side of the Deschutes River and has been sloping up towards homes and condominiums.
A level 3 evacuation (go now) has been ordered for all residents north of Falcon Crest Drive, including Thunderbird Court, Blue Heron Drive and Swallow Lane in Redmond.
Evacuees are being taken in at the Eagle Crest Hotel and Conference Center.
Single-engine air tankers and helicopters are being used along with crews on the ground to fight the fire.
