PORTLAND, Ore. — After 11 years in the Portland area, Boxer, the small chain of ramen restaurants, is closing for good.

Boxer, formerly known as Boxer Ramen, has three locations in Portland and one in Beaverton. The four locations will be open through April 28 for one last meal, the franchise said.

"The incredible challenges that we all faced as a community during the pandemic, compounded by inflated costs of goods and services, have not only profoundly affected our restaurant but all of us and our communities as a whole," Boxer said on its website and on social media. "Despite the tireless efforts and dedication of our incredible team and the unwavering support from all of you, our family and friends, it has become impossible to continue operating."

Boxer Ramen, as well as SuperDeluxe, are owned by restaurateur Micah Camden; both companies had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this February.

The first restaurant opened in Portland in 2013, and they opened four more locations from 2015 to 2018, but all closed temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic. Two locations were then converted into other restaurants that were operated in part by Camden — and in 2022, two reopened and were rebranded as Boxer. A third Boxer opened in Cedar Hills Crossing in Dec. 2023.
