PORTLAND, Ore. — A body was found Wednesday in the Columbia River near Broughton Beach, north of Portland International Airport, Portland Fire & Rescue confirmed.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office River Patrol responded around 3 p.m. near Northeast Marine Drive. The body was found by a rescue boat with the airport fire department, then was recovered and transported to the Gleason Boat Ramp to meet the county medical examiner.
A PF&R fireboat was also dispatched to the scene, but the call was canceled while it was still on the way, the agency said.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office confirmed Thursday that the medical examiner will determine the cause of death and identity of the body, with detectives conducting an investigation.
