PORTLAND, Oregon — Owners of a food cart in North Portland are seeking the public's help after a barbecue smoker was stolen from the cart.
On the morning of April 6, the owners of Southern Kitchen PDX, located on North Mississippi Avenue, said a barbecue smoker was stolen from behind their food truck.
They said surveillance video caught at least two people wheeling it off site. One of the owners told KGW that he hopes he can get the grill back in one piece. He added it's as much a part of the business as their food truck.
Southern Kitchen PDX is known in the community for holding holiday food giveaways and making food baskets for homeless people.
"I had a small grill but I wanted a bigger one so I could serve the community, serve the people. I sat down and I drawed it out, got with a welder and he came and brought it to life, so it means a lot to me," said co-owner Maurice Fein.
The owners have started a GoFundMe in the event that the barbecue smoker isn't found. Anyone wanting to support the southern cuisine food cart can donate here.
Anyone who comes across the smoker is asked not to buy it but report it to police.
