Man found in Portland after removing ankle monitor, leaving Washington facility for 'sexually violent predators'

Damion Blevins was taken into custody after taking the train from Seattle to Portland.

SEATTLE — A man who was determined to be a "sexually violent predator" by a King County court was taken into custody in Portland on Thursday after removing his ankle monitor in Seattle, Department of Corrections (DOC) officials say.

Damion Blevins, 33, boarded a train to Portland Monday evening from the King Street Station in Seattle. He was found Thursday afternoon and booked into Multnomah County Jail, according to the DOC. He will soon be extradited to Washington state to face new charges.

The man was a resident of a Less Restrictive Alternative in Tukwila, a community residential facility where people deemed sexually violent predators can live in a setting less restrictive than McNeil Island's total confinement facility, according to the release.

Blevins was most recently convicted of second-degree assault in 2017 and civilly committed to the Special Commitment Center in 2023, the release says.

Blevins' sex offender registry profile indicates he was officially deemed a sexually violent predator in June 2019, but does not specify the crime he was convicted of.
