WEST LINN, Ore. -- A goat wandering in West Linn is not a common sight. But a captive goat peering out of a West Linn police car - now that's really odd.
He's no crook, police said. The goat apparently got lost.
The West Linn Police Department tweeted out a couple photos of its mug Friday afternoon, asking "Got your goat? We might."
The brown, black and white goat with a faded red collar was spotted running along Carriage Street, near Rosemont around 2:30 p.m. and concerned bystanders called 911.
It just so happens that West Linn PD's resident goat expert, Officer Allister Bunch, was nearby and captured the wily little guy.
"He's our goat-to guy," Capt. Henley joked, of officer Bunch. "He knows all things goat because his children are 4H kids who raise goats. He told us it was a little aggressive and tried to hook his hand, but he was able to catch it OK."
"I'm glad I was there," Bunch added. "He seems to be doing fine."
The animal's owner, who only had the buck for a week, sent out text messages imploring people he knew to keep an eye out for the escaped goat. Then one of his son's friends spotted the West Linn police tweet and contacted them right away.
The goat waited comfortably in an air conditioned police SUV until he was reunited with his family.
Henley said it was the perfect ending to this West Linn goat caper.
