Purrington’s Cat Lounge, Portland’s only cat café, is closing

You can almost hear the cat lovers hissing.

Portland's one and only cat café is closing up shop.

Purrington’s Cat Lounge on Northeast Martin Luther King Boulevard is literally a place to sip coffee and hang out with adoptable cats.

Since opening in 2015, staff say they've helped match more than 600 felines with their forever-families.

The owners are moving out of state, so they're closing their beloved lounge.

“Oh my gosh it's been a wild ride,” said Kristen Castillo, co-owner of Purrington’s Cat Lounge. “We've learned so much and we've loved so many cats. We've had so many great experiences and some crazy experiences. It's definitely been a trip. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.”

Owners say the shop is for sale, so there is hope!

In the meantime, they're staying open until November 30.

Any cats still without homes after that will go to a local shelter.
