PORTLAND, Ore. – A Portland dog rescue and rehabilitation center asked for help finding a pair of rescued rottweilers who escaped earlier this week.
The dogs, named Bonnie and Clyde, may be in the Wilsonville or Sherwood areas. The rescue center owners fear the dogs are in danger.
Bonnie and Clyde escaped from Diamond Cut Loyalty Canine Rescue & Pit Bull Rehabilitation shortly after they arrived on Tuesday.
The rescue center owners are worried that because they are large rottweilers, Bonnie and Clyde may be shot on sight.
The dogs were reportedly seen on Oberst Lane in Sherwood on Wednesday evening. The area is rural and borders farmland.
Bonnie and Clyde are three years old and not aggressive, according to a news release from Diamond Cut Loyalty. The dogs do not know their names. They were given their names when they arrived at the rescue center.
Bonnie and Clyde's owner gave the dogs away to a caretaker because they kept escaping from their yard. The caretaker neglected and abandoned the dogs, Diamond Cut Loyalty said.
The rescue center is asking residents in Wilsonville, Sherwood, Newberg and the Portland area to be on the lookout for the dogs.
Animal control agencies in Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington and Yamhill counties have been notified that Bonnie and Clyde are missing.
Anyone who sees the dogs is asked to call Ronnie Lucero at 503-997-6661 or Kim Singer at 503-969-2980.
Diamond Cut Loyalty Canine Rescue & Pit Bull Rehabilitation is a nonprofit rescue with special focus on pit bulls, according to its Facebook page. The center rescues abused, neglected, abandoned and homeless dogs.
