PORTLAND, Ore. — Discount furniture and appliance store American Freight is shutting down all of its locations across the country, including two stores in Oregon. The closure comes after its parent company filed for bankruptcy.

Franchise Group, Inc., the parent company, announced plans to shutter its online operations and its 328 locations nationwide on Nov. 3 after starting Chapter 11 proceedings in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. In Oregon, American Freight has a store on Southeast 82nd Avenue in Clackamas and another on North Riverside Avenue in Medford.

American Freight "has struggled due to sustained inflation and macroeconomic challenges facing the large durable goods sector," the parent company said in a news release earlier this month.

Hilco Consumer-Retail is managing closing sales at all of the stores, and said shoppers can save up to 30% off the lowest ticketed prices storewide.

"Our goal is to deliver outstanding value to customers during this full chain closing sale," said Ian Fredericks, CEO of Hilco Consumer-Retail, in a news release. "Everything is on sale and must be sold, and we recommend shopping early for the best selection."

Some American Freight financing and delivery services will stay open to customers during the store closing sales.
