PORTLAND, Oregon — An adult foster care home in Lebanon, Oregon was destroyed in a fire early Sunday morning, according to the Lebanon Fire District.
On Sunday, at around 1:21 a.m. firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire at a two-story adult foster care home.
When fire crews arrived, the owners of the care home informed them that there was someone inside the burning home. Crews upgraded the fire to a second alarm and requested additional support from other fire crews across Linn and Benton counties.
The owners of the care home were awakened by smoke detectors and worked to evacuate a majority of the residents until fire crews arrived, Lebanon Fire District said.
Crews along with a medical unit were able to force their way through a locked door to find a person inside the home. The victim was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials said hot embers from the fire blew across the street and sparked a structure fire. A single engine was able to quickly put out the second fire.
Crews stayed on scene for several hours to put out the fire. There's no current cause for the fire and an investigation is underway.
Lebanon Fire was assisted by the Albany Fire Department, Sweet Home Fire District, Tangent Fire District, Harrisburg Fire Department and Corvallis Fire Department in putting out the flames.
