PORTLAND, Ore. — One person died and another injured after a head-on collision on I-84.
Officers responded at 1:32 a.m. on June 29, to reports of a crash involving two cars on westbound I-84 at Northeast 162 Avenue, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB). When officers arrived, they found both drivers injured.
The driver of the car going westbound was transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries, and later died.
The driver of the other car, which was going east in the westbound lanes, was also transported to a hospital with "unknown injuries," PPB said.
On Tuesday, Portland police identified the man killed as 44-year-old John M. Boyd. His family has been notified of his death. A Multnomah County Grand Jury indicated the driver, 34-year-old Heather Greig, on the following charges first-degree manslaughter, DUII, recklessly endangering another person and reckless driving.
All lanes of the westbound Interstate 84 were closed between Northeast 181st Avenue and Interstate 205 during the investigation.
