Three more COVID-19 deaths in Oregon

The OHA announced on Saturday that COVID-19 has claimed three more lives in Oregon.

The Oregon Health Authority announced on Saturday that three more people have died from COVID-19 and there are 79 new confirmed cases of the virus.

In Oregon, a total of 127 people have died from COVID-19 and so far there have been 3,160 known or suspected cases of the virus, including the 79 new confirmed cases and 13 current suspected cases.

There is no way of knowing how many current cases of COVID-19 there are in the state at this time.

The three patients who died all had underlying health conditions:

  • Oregon’s 125th COVID-19 death is a 76-year-old woman in Clackamas County, who tested positive on April 8 and died on May 8 at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. She had underlying medical conditions.
  • Oregon’s 126th COVID-19 death is an 81-year-old man in Linn County, who tested positive on April 19 and died on May 2 at Samaritan Albany General Hospital. He had underlying medical conditions.
  • Oregon’s 127th COVID-19 death is a 92-year-old woman in Polk County, who tested positive on May 1 and died on May 7 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying medical conditions.

Though 3,111 people have tested positive for COVID-19, there have been a total of 71,460 negative tests, which is 96% of all tests.

Health officials say as the number of tests grows, so will the number of positive cases. COVID- like visits still make up only a small portion of all reported emergency room visits, according to OHA.
