PORTLAND, Ore. — Kaiser Permanente Northwest will temporarily close some clinics and medical offices in the Portland area Thursday, March 19, to prepare for an expected surge of patients infected with the COVID-19 coronavirus.
"By temporarily consolidating, we can support a potential surge in our hospital patients, meet the critical need to conserve personal protective equipment, guard against potential staffing shortages, and limit the exposure for members, employees and the community," the medical group said in a statement.
Kaiser had previously postponed non-urgent surgeries and procedures. All urgent care services will remain open.
No employees are being furloughed, a spokesperson told KGW.
The following facilities will be temporary closed:
- Battle Ground Medical Office
- Care Essentials by Kaiser Permanente - Hawthorne
- Care Essentials by Kaiser Permanente - Pearl
- Cedar Hills Dental and Medical Office
- Gateway Medical Office
- Hillsboro Medical Office
- Keizer Station Medical Office
- Mill Plain One Medical Office
- Murrayhill Medical Office
- Orchards Medical Office
- Tualatin Medical Office

- To schedule a video or phone visit, sign in to the Kaiser Permanente app or kp.org. Members who have flu-like symptoms and are 18 or older can also complete an e-visit to get online care and advice, and treatment for symptoms if necessary.
In person
- If you need to schedule a new in-person appointment, or if you’re concerned about your specific health condition, call 1-800-813-2000. Calling ahead helps direct you to the most appropriate care and take precautions to address the community spread of COVID-19.
Mail-order prescription refills
- You can avoid a trip to the pharmacy by ordering your prescriptions online and having them delivered by mail. Sign up at kp.org/rxrefill or call 1-800-548-9809 (TTY 711).
