- In a letter sent Friday, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown requested the Department of Corrections identify inmates who should be considered for early release due to the COVID-19 safety risks associated with the state’s prison system. Learn more
- Many gyms and fitness studios, salons, restaurants and bars in Multnomah County spent all week preparing to open their doors this weekend or next week. Now, they're left waiting again. Learn more
- OSPIRG, the Oregon consumer advocacy group with more than 40,000 citizen members, called on Brown to stop Multnomah Country from entering Phase 1 last week. They applauded her decision on Friday. Learn more
- Hood River County was hoping to enter Phase 2 of reopening. But with Gov. Kate Brown's decision to put a hold on all applications for a week, businesses that have been closed for three months are left waiting longer. Learn more
- A Canby long-term care facility confirmed more residents and staff have tested positive for COVID-19 and there is now a total of 69 known cases. Learn more
- An Ilani Casino employee tested positive for COVID-19, health officials confirmed Friday. Learn more
1:30 p.m.
- The Oregon Health Authority announced 142 new confirmed and presumptive cases and two more deaths in its daily update on Friday, and released projections for COVID-19 progression in Oregon. All scenarios that the modeling projects show transmissions have increased since the state began reopening on May 15. Learn more
- Multnomah County Health Director Dr. Jennifer Vines said in a Friday press conference the county was very confident it had taken the right steps to progress to Phase 1. Learn more
11 a.m.
- Gov. Kate Brown held a press conference to discuss her decision to put Multnomah County's phase one application on hold for one week. Learn more
9 a.m.
- The Oregon Supreme Court ruled Friday that a Baker County judge was wrong in his May 18 ruling that Gov. Kate Brown’s COVID-19 stay-home orders violated a time limit, and had therefore expired. Learn more
6 a.m.
- Multnomah County's Phase 1 application has been "paused" for one week, Gov. Brown announced Thursday. Across the state, all other pending Phase 1 and Phase 2 applications will also be put on hold by one week. Learn more
- Over the last five days, the Oregon Health Authority has reported at least 100 new coronavirus cases three times. That spike is what has the governor and health officials concerned. Here's a look at the numbers
