Five new COVID-19 deaths, 58 new cases in Oregon

The new deaths bring Oregon’s statewide total to 38 people.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Five more people have died of COVID-19 in Oregon, state health officials announced Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 38 people.

The Oregon Health Authority released the following information about the people who died. All five had underlying medical conditions.

  • An 88-year-old woman from Multnomah County. She tested positive on March 28 and died April 6 at OHSU.
  • A 77-year-old man from Multnomah County. He tested positive on March 27 and died April 1 at his home.
  • A 75-year-old woman from Multnomah County. She tested positive on April 6 and died the next day at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center.
  • A 94-year-old man from Yamhill County. He tested positive on March 25 and died April 7 at Providence Newberg Medical Center.
  • A 90-year-old man from Yamhill County. He tested positive on March 25 and died April 7 at Providence Newberg Medical Center.

The OHA also announced 58 new cases of coronavirus in the state, bringing Oregon’s total number of cases to 1,239. The new cases are in the following counties:

  • Clackamas: 6
  • Columbia: 1
  • Deschutes: 1
  • Hood River: 1
  • Lane: 1
  • Linn: 1
  • Marion: 3
  • Morrow: 1
  • Multnomah: 28
  • Wallowa: 2
  • Washington: 13

To date, a total of 24,564 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Oregon and 23,325 people (95%) have tested negative.
