PORTLAND -- The mysterious death of a federal public defender remains unsolved after two years.
The body of Nancy Bergeson was found inside her Southwest Portland home on Nov. 24, 2009.
That was the house that I grew up in, in a safe neighborhood that we all felt was home and was a place where those types of things didn't happen, her daughter Jamie Bergeson told KGW.
Investigators initially believed that she died of natural causes, but upon further inspection, determined that her death was a homicide.
It's still something that I face on a daily basis and think about everyday, Jamie said.
Despite Bergeson's high profile position and the attention given to the case, no one has been arrested in connection to her death.
I don't even know how to describe it, said Nancy Bergeson's sister Julie McComick, It's just more pain and memory, and the fact that it hasn't been solved is really tough for the entire family.
The anniversary of the homicide falls on Thanksgiving this year, but her family is finding strength in being together despite that.
Give your family members a huge hug and tell them you love them, because it's a day to express your appreciation for other people, said Jamie.
Meanwhile, police are still actively investigating the case and continue to ask the public for any tips.
We know that there is someone out there in the community who has info about Nancy Bergeson being killed, and we need their help, said Lt. Robert King.
