Woman killed in hit-and-run crash in Northeast Portland; police find suspect and vehicle

Officers found a woman dead near Northeast 85th Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street. The driver of the vehicle took off.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in Northeast Portland's Madison South Neighborhood, according to police. Police have since found the vehicle and the driver.

Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to reports of a woman lying in the road in the area of Northeast 85th Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street. The officers found the woman dead when they arrived and the vehicle was no longer in the area, Portland police said. The woman has not yet been identified.

Portland police released a photo of the vehicle investigators believe was involved in the deadly hit-and-run. The vehicle is described as a teal and white 1992-1997 Ford F250 with a SuperCab.

Early Wednesday afternoon, PPB issued an update saying that the vehicle and driver believed to be involved in the crash had been located, and they were no longer seeking either. The agency did not provide any further details about the suspect.

The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team is investigating the fatal hit-and-run. Anyone with information is asked to contact crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov, address the email "attention Traffic Investigations Unit," and reference case number 24-238520.
