Man faces charges in deadly shooting of woman in Northeast Portland

A woman was shot and killed on Northeast Everett Court in the Glenfair neighborhood. The suspect faces several charges including manslaughter.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man has been arrested for shooting and killing a woman in Northeast Portland Saturday night, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reported.

The suspect, 43-year-old Donnell L. Watson of Gresham, faces charges of first-degree manslaughter with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. Watson was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Officers responded to a reported shooting at 6:37 p.m. Saturday on Northeast Everett Court, just off Northeast 160th Avenue between Northeast Glisan Street and East Burnside Street in the Glenfair neighborhood. They found the woman, later identified 45-year-old Shamesha Danaee Allen, dead at the scene.

The medical examiner determined she died from a gunshot wound, and ruled her death a homicide.

Homicide investigators were seen on board a stopped TriMet bus but there's no information about how that may be related to the shooting.

There have been 64 homicides in Portland so far this year.
