PORTLAND, Ore. — Police have released the name of a woman who was shot and killed inside an apartment on May 23 in Southeast Portland's Hazelwood neighborhood.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired just after 10 p.m. on Southeast 146th Avenue near East Burnside Street. They found the woman. later identified as 31-year-old Laquonda Fuller-Hudson, dead inside of an apartment and the suspect, or suspects, had left the area, Portland police said.
The medical examiner determined Fuller-Hudson died from gunshot wounds and ruled her death a homicide.
On May 31, police said the suspect in the case was in custody at a local hospital. Police did not identify him but added that he is being treated for injuries "sustained during an incident that occurred after the homicide, but prior to suspect's contact with law enforcement."
Portland Police Homicide Unit detectives are investigating.
