PORTLAND, Ore. — A woman accused of shooting a man in Southeast Portland was arrested Thursday for attempted murder. The victim is her spouse or former spouse, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reported.
The victim, a 75-year-old man, was shot in the face. He was taken to the hospital and police said his injuries are not life-threatening.
The woman, 73-year-old Lana J. Strand, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. She faces charges of second-degree attempted murder (domestic violence) and unlawful use of a weapon (domestic violence).
At 4:25 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of Southeast 79th Avenue and Powell Boulevard. The victim said he'd been shot by a woman who'd left the area after the shooting, and gave officers a description of the woman. They found her trying to drive away and took her into custody. Investigators retrieved a revolver they believe was used in the shooting.
