SANDY, Ore — A teenager is recovering at home after being shot Saturday night in Sandy, according to the Sandy Police Department (SPD).

Sandy police and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded at around 11:32 p.m. to reports of a shooting at a home near the corner of Davis Street and Gary Street.

Officers found a 17-year-old male who had been shot in the back, and they provided first aid.

The teen was taken to a nearby hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening. He was released Sunday morning and is now with his family, police said.

The shooting is believed to have been accidental, police said. A man was arrested at the scene, but police said it was on warrants unrelated to the shooting.

Sandy police continue to investigate the events, but they say there is no further threat to the public.

Sandy police ask anyone with any information regarding this incident to call the Tip Line at 503-489-2195 or email SandyPDPIO@ci.sandy.or.us.
