SHERWOOD, Ore. — A student teacher at Sherwood High School was arrested and faces multiple charges of child sex abuse following a seven-month long investigation, the Sherwood Police Department (SPD) reported Friday. Police said multiple victims have been identified, and they believe there are more victims and witnesses.
The teacher, 24-year-old Mason Dominguez, was arrested Thursday and is being held at the Washington County Jail. He faces the following charges: one count of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, two counts of attempting to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, two counts of luring a minor and one count of tampering with a witness.
Sherwood police started investigating Dominguez in April 2023 after a Sherwood High student came forward and reported "concerning information" about Dominguez, a student teacher from George Fox University who had been placed at Sherwood High. Dominguez was immediately removed from the school's campus and police started a criminal investigation.
A second victim later came forward, police said.
After months of interviews and execution of multiple search warrants, a Washington County grand jury indicted Dominguez on Oct. 16. A county judge issued a secret indictment arrest warrant, and Dominguez was taken into custody on Oct. 26.
During the investigation, George Fox University placed Dominguez on leave, removed him from campus and placed his teaching credentials on hold.
Sherwood police said it has identified multiple victims but believe there are more victims and witnesses to crimes allegedly committed by Dominguez. Anyone with information about this case is asked to reach out to the Sherwood Police Department at 503-629-0111 and reference case number 231100938.
