PORTLAND, Ore. — The owner of a boutique in downtown Portland is cleaning up after vandals targeted his business.
Komi Jean-Pierre Nugloze showed up to N’Kossi on Tuesday morning to find the front window smashed up. It appears the suspect(s) used some sort of metal object. Fortunately, nothing was stolen out of the shop on Southwest Harvey Milk Street.
The shop opened more than three years ago after Nugloze moved from West Africa. Nugloze says this is the second time he has been vandalized. He cannot help but wonder if this is racially-motivated.
“Maybe it’s because I’m using African fabric,” he said. “I’m just thinking maybe people don’t like what I’m doing.”
Nugloze believes the damage will cost more than $1,000 to repair. That is a lot of money for a small business owner. A Go Fund Me has been set up to help with repairs.
