PORTLAND, Ore. — One person was injured in a shooting near a nightclub in Northwest Portland early Friday morning, police said.
Around 1:42 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire near Magic Tavern, a strip club. Police said the suspect, a customer, got into a fight with two men outside. Afterward, the men helped the suspect to his car, where he then retrieved a handgun and fired at least one shot at the men as they ran away, the news release said.
The suspect remained outside the club trying to get back inside but was denied entrance.
About 20 minutes later, the suspect then fired at the nightclub, as a worker was leaving, injuring her leg. The woman, who had called a taxi, got into the car and went to the hospital.
When officers arrived, they saw the suspect driving away from the scene and stopped him at Northwest 25th Avenue and Northwest Raleigh Street.
Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Gabriel Hutchings. He is in custody and has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, second-degree assault and two-counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
