PORTLAND, Ore. — Police arrested a suspect in the 2022 fatal shooting of 22-year-old Sircharles Marc Anthony Jones in Portland's South Waterfront.
Cedrick Damon Washington Jr., 31, on Tuesday, was placed in custody and charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
On May 6, 2022, around 3:20 a.m., Jones was working as a security guard when officers found him dead near South River Parkway and South Moody Avenue. A medical examiner later ruled his death a homicide.
No details were released for Washington's motive.
In 2022, Jones's death was the 38th homicide in Portland at the time. Overall, Portland set a record for highest number of homicides that year with 96.
