OREGON CITY, Ore. — Police are looking for two suspects accused of stealing wallets from medical care facilities in Oregon City and Tualatin last spring, the Oregon City Police Department (OCPD) reported Wednesday.
There were two similar thefts. The first took place in May 2023 and the second a few weeks after that. KGW reached out to Oregon City police to ask why this information wasn't reported until eight months after the thefts happened.
"Without going into the case details too much, the situation was being investigated," OCPD Captain David Edwins said in an email response. "We had a lead, so didn't release anything to the public. After investigating the lead, we are now soliciting the public's help."
In the first theft, on May 2, 2023, police said two people entered the lobby of Northwest Primary Care in Oregon City. One of them walked down the hallway to the office where a wallet was stolen from a purse. A suspect, a woman wearing a pink shirt and black hat, was later seen on video surveillance using bank cards from the stolen wallet. Police said the surveillance video shows that the suspect appears to have tattoos on her lower back and left leg.
The second theft happened a few weeks later at Meridian Park Hospital in Tualatin. Police said another wallet was stolen from the hospital, after which a suspect, a woman with blonde hair wearing a NASA sweatshirt, was seen on video surveillance using a credit card from the stolen wallet.
Anyone with information about the identity of either suspect is asked to call the OCPD tip line at 503-905-3505 and reference case number 23-009130.
